WE'RE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT BABY MARTIN #2 IS DUE DECEMBER 20, 2008! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO US!! :)
I know a lot of people who wait quite a while longer to share the news, but we're not ones who can wait!
While we were hoping for another baby, this did happen a bit sooner that we expected. Last time it took us about 1 1/2 years and fertility drugs. This time it took us 5 months and no fertility drugs, so we were very surprised but VERY happy!
We are nervous about pre-eclampsia occurring again, but there's nothing I can do to stop it from happening so we're just crossing our fingers and praying. We feel like we have a very good OBGYN and he has given a 50/50 chance of pre-eclampsia occurring again based solely on the fact that it happened during my pregnancy with Caitlyn. However, research has shown that if it does happen in subsequent pregnancies, it does tend to happen later in the pregnancy than it did the first time.
The hospital in Butte has a Level II NICU, which means that they can deliver babies at 32 weeks and above. While we hope to not have another preemie, we have done our research in the event that things happen like they did last time. If I develop pre-eclampsia again and it happens before 32 weeks, I would be sent to Missoula.
We're very excited for Caitlyn to have a little brother or sister, as she LOVES babies and she'll make a wonderful big sister! 3 years seems to be good spacing, as we hope to have Caitlyn out of diapers by then and she's already so independent that we're sure she'll do just fine with the change.
We'll keep you posted!
