Halloween Prep

Last night we started "prepping" for Halloween. Caitlyn is VERY excited for Halloween, as she says "It's my favorite 'cause' there are costumes!" Ask her what she is going to be for Halloween and you will get a VERY animated "I'm going to be a PRINCESS....CINDERELLA" as she twirls in a circle (she is in fact a princess, but it's not a Cinderalla costume; that's just WHO she has decided she is going to be). She is all girl complete with tiara, princess wand (which she calls her "poka poka" and literally does "poka poka" everyone with it), and princess jewelry.
Okay, back to the subject. Last night we made Halloween chocolate candies, caramel corn, ghosts to hang outside, carved pumpkins, and baked the pumpkin seeds. It really was a lot of fun and Caitlyn is at the age where we can really start some traditions that I think she'll remember each year. We had 2 pumpkins to carve; 1 for Mommy to carve and 1 for Daddy to carve. Daddy went about things the difficult way and asked Caitlyn to pick out a picture from our pumpkin carving book for the one he was carving. Her choice? A spider, which was not an easy task. Mommy, on the other hand, went about things the "old fashioned" way and grabbed a pen and asked Caitlyn what kind of face we should make for pumpkin #2. Her answer? A sad face, which was very easy even for a Mommy with ZERO artistic skills. Caitlyn was very happy with both of her pumpkins.
Today is another busy day with a Halloween themed birthday party for one of Caitlyn's friends and then a Halloween carnival at the Butte Civic Center to follow. At least Caitlyn will get to wear her costume more than just on Halloween, so I feel like we're getting our $'s worth!
I am also very excited to announce that I am now past 32 weeks in my pregnancy! The beginning of my dr. appt. worried me a bit on Friday, as my blood pressure was up. However, everything else looked great and by the end of my appointment my blood pressure was normal and no there are still NO signs of pre-eclampsia! I didn't actually get to see the doctor, as he literally ran out of the office for an emergency and didn't even let his office staff know. However, his nurse is excellent and gathered all of the info the doctor needed and the doctor actually CALLED ME AT HOME later that evening to APOLOGIZE for missing my appointment (how many doctors do you know who do that?) and to let me know all is well and to ask if I had any concerns.
We have otherwise had a very busy week. Our boiler went out on us again and we had to purchase a new one which is now installed. At least we don't have to worry about the heat going out with a newborn in the house this winter. It's very frustrating to have to replace the boiler since we just purchased our house 2 years ago. Unfortunately, the person who inspected the house 2 years ago failed to mention that the boiler was 8 years older than the house and is no longer being manufactured!
In addition, Robert finally found out last week after his doctor reviewed his MRI that he has a bulging disc in his back which is causing all of his back, leg, and foot pain. He goes in this week for an epidural procedure that will hopefully help to alleviate the pain. If not, then we'll see what the next step is.
I'll probably post a couple of times this week with everything that's going on, so check back!

Kinda similar to cousin Carter's picture on Aunt Trish's blog. Robert found Caitlyn sleeping like this the other night when she went to bed.
Enjoying the extra chocolate after making Halloween candies
Caitlyn with her sad face pumpkin and her "poka poka" wand.
Making sure the spider isn't going anywhere!
Both pumpkins turned out pretty well.
